Digg doesn’t recognize Google’s Knol

OK I find this new tool from Google called Knol (yes it is finally in public beta). It is like Squidoo or Wikipedia. I set up my first Knol - How to trade Credit Spreads Knol and of course I want the rest of the world to know about this cool thing I found! So I go to Digg and try and submit my Knol to their site and Digg doesn’t recognize the url!

I run through the submission process entering my url to submit and Digg comes back with a message stating - “This link does not appear to be a working link. Please check the URL and try again.”

Here’s the actual link - knol.google.com/k/daniel-beatty/how-to-trade-credit-spreads# Now I tried it with and without the # sign at the end and neither worked. Of course the url works in my browsers, so what gives? Any ideas?

I could be a conspiracy theorist and say that either Google does not like Digg or Digg does not like Google but …nah there must be some type of technical glitch. I hope they figure it out because I might think mine is cool but I am sure there will be other cool ones out there that will make mine pale in comparison - like instructions on how to get a date with a super model.

Another Ross Goldberg promotion?!?

Now you might get the impression that I have a thing for Ross Goldberg. I mean I keep promoting his “crap” - Master’s Seminar (which I am going to) and even his last years seminar - Midwest Internet Marketing Seminar (which I attended). Well I will tell you it is not him, I am straight and married with four kids, it is his information. I am a simple type of person. I mean I am not stupid simple I just like to keep it simple and so does Ross.

My idea of internet marketing is to start with the basics and always focus on the basics do not get caught up in all the details. Why? Because the details change all the time! So focus on these three simple items - Content, Traffic and List building - in that order! You can see on this blog I am missing one step List building, because it does not equate to the same as content and traffic in making money on the internet. Yes having a large list of focused individuals will make you a lot of money and it is a tangible asset for your internet business BUT you can make money without it. The one thing you can not make money without is good content and lots of traffic and focused traffic is best!

SO back to Ross, why do I promote Ross and his “crap” because it is such good crap! It is simple and easy to follow with a ton of great content and the most important aspects of the internet marketing business. The latest of his information is an ebook titled The Traffic Manifesto 2.0, yes it is the second edition of his knock out ebook the Traffic Manifesto. It focuses on how to get the best and MOST traffic to your site.

Oh forget reading his long ass sales copy I am going to give you the spoiler information right here. Here are the main reasons you need to get over to his site right now and purchase The Traffic Manifesto 2.0!

  • Its only $37!
  • 131 pages of 79 proven strategies
  • Its only $37!
  • 24 videos
  • Its only $37!
  • 54 pages of added SEO tactics
  • Its only $37!
  • a 30 Day Action Plan telling you what to do

Oh and did I mention it is only $37!!! I am going to tell you that this is exactly what internet marketing should be great content about a relevant topic and at a low price. However Ross is threatening to raise the cost in a couple of weeks just before his Masters Seminar so get your copy now before he does raise the price. Click right here —The Traffic Manifesto 2.0

Oh and this has to be better promotion than Sterling Valentine sending out 8 emails everyday about his new program. But then again I am not Sterling Valentine either.

DLGuard - Protecting Selling

Spam has got to be the worst thing on the internet, however there is one thing that is almost as bad and that is giving away someone’s download link! There are a lot of solutions to this problem however I believe the best solution is DLGuard.

DLGuard stops would be thieves from passing out the download link to the products you are selling. For example if you have an ebook that you are selling, how are you going to distribute it? Well usually a download link is provide after payment is received. What is to stop someone from taking that download link and passing it out to all of his friends and maybe not even his friends but everyone on his email list? The answer - Nothing, unless you think you can change your download link manually on a very regular basis. DLGuard prevents this by automatically giving your download link a time limit.

The software has many other functions including a built-in shoppingcart,  membership site capabilities, and a seamless operation with the major payment systems such as Paypal. Definitely worth a look and a purchase if you are going to be selling anything online.  Click on DLGuard to check it out, do it right now while you are thinking about it.

John Reese internet failure!

Do you know John Reese? Well according to Mashable - a WAY more trafficked blog than this measly one - says that John is an internet failure and is a black mark on the internet because he makes money by using internet marketing. What’s worse is they really do not even know what type of marketing John does and have accused him of horrendous marketing practices. Now it seems to me that they are bashing anyone who tries to make money on the internet. The whole idea that internet marketing is bad is laughable but it is a focus of many bloggers, writers and internet snobs that feel it is degrading the free internet.

To quote one of my favorite mentors - “Mashable is full of $#@!” OK it was better when Ross wrote it - John Reese Vs. Mashable - Consider me in your corner John!

So what I am interested in and one of the reasons I am writing this post is to find out why is it bad to make money on the internet? Spamming is bad and I hate it as much if not more than most people, but how about just providing people with good quality information for a price? I mean writers do it all the time. They write their books, their movies, their plays, their poems and yes they do it because they love it but they also get paid! What is different about doing the same thing on the internet?

Now how about affiliate marketing? Do not people in the “real world” get commission for selling items such as cars, houses, or just about any other service or product? What is so wrong with doing that on the internet? Is there some sort of taboo I do not know about or is it just that I don’t get it, sort of like I don’t get the whole Love and Peace Man thing from the 60’s. Am I just too much of a neanderthal and not an internet elitist so I just don’t get why it is so wrong to make money on the internet? Could someone set me straight?

In the meantime I am going to support a very successful internet marketer in John Reese of which I do use BlogRush John just not on this blog…LOL… and post his response to Mashable, even if this blog is very small with only a small amount of visitors - Wake Up Call: Web 2.0 Wouldn’t Exist Without Internet Marketers

Also I am going to try and make some cash with this post (just being honest), by promoting a seminar I think you should attend - I am going to go to Ross Goldbergs Masters Seminar in Chicago are you going to be there? -  YES I AM

Now the above link is an affiliate link however to be honest I would promote this seminar even if I did not have an affiliate link to it. So tell me is it so wrong to make some money on referring someone to a fantastic service, product, or in this case seminar?

Ross Goldberg’s Masters Seminar

Do you remember going to your first seminar for internet marketing? I had gone to a few but nothing compared to Ross Goldberg’s Midwest Internet Marketing Seminar. Here is what I said about it before - Ross’s MIMS

Well he has gone and done it again and brought one of his seminars back to the Chicago area. I am going! Here is the link for it - Ross Goldberg’s Masters Seminar

It will be on July 18 through July 20th. Be sure to get your ticket now because only the first 100 will get the ticket for the cheaper rate, after those are gone the next 100 will pay $200 more, after those are gone there will be no more. Yes that is right he is limiting it to 200 people and that is it. So hurry and get your ticket now before the price goes up or before they are all gone…. click here —>  Ross Goldberg’s Masters Seminar

This is going to be a very educational and entertaining seminar that you will not want to miss. I was at the last one and I can tell you it was great I expect nothing less from this one. Check out who is going to be there —> Rich Schefren, Joel Comm, Ken McArthur just to name a few of the big ones and that does not include Ross himself. IF you have not heard Ross’s story you will want to because it is very inspiring. A story that speaks volumes and tells you heck if that guy can do it I certainly can!

Web 2.0 Tool: Testing Out Trackboost

I just purchased Jack Humphrey’s Trackboost (http://www.trackboost.com) Notice I placed the link in this format to show you that I am not promoting an affiliate with this product. It is that good of a product that I do not need an affiliate link to promote it. I have used it a couple of times on my blogs with great results in only a few minutes.

It is a tool in which it will actually go out and search other blogs in your niche (keywords) and will allow you to trackback to those blogs whose posts match a post that is on your blog of the same topic. It is not a blackhat tool but rather a true Web 2.0 tool in which it will help you as a blogger connect and converse with other bloggers in your same areas of interest. It is fantastic it saves a ton of time because you just type in keywords and it does the Google Blog search for you and makes a clean list for you to just click through. There are several other features with it but I would suggest checking out his video on it at http://www.trackboost.com

Here is an example of Trackboost in action. This took less than 2 minutes to find and less than 5 minutes to get up on my blog in proper format -

What happened to the website experiment

OK I did start my website experiment to show what can be done with the website promotion tools that I use. However I was told by one of my guru friends that it is not a good idea to show off one of your established sites for a variety of reasons and one of them being Google can and will slap you down.

Don’t believe me or my guru friend it happened to Brad Fallon. Here is a site I think you will enjoy reading I do.. but the topic is about a Andrew Hansen promoting a new niche blog and you need to read the comments about what has happened to some people including Brad Fallon when they mention their website in relation to getting more and more traffic and how they are doing and how they are making money from it. Here’s the post —> If I Started Niche Marketing From Scratch

So I stopped the experiment right away and obviously I have not posted in a couple months thereafter…BTW the experiment did work I just now can’t show you what happened.

Website Promotion: D&S Beatty Enterprises, LLP

D&S Beatty Enterprises, LLP is expanding. The company was initially intended for website development and promotion of our own interests in specific niches. We have been pretty successful in that endeavor. What has occurred is that we are getting more and more requests to do this type of work for other people and businesses.

It started out with requests to just build or change websites such as was the case for Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Seasons Soccer Club and a few others. Currently we are constructing sites for Crown Point Swim Club and Masinco Construction

However we are now receiving requests for website promotion. Since that is actually the part of the business we really enjoy doing, we are definitely going to head in that direction. So what is website promotion?

Website promotion entails several things but basically for D&S Beatty Enterprises it is a plan of attack to of course get your site in the top rankings of Google and other Search engines, but more importantly in your specific niche to have your website dominating that niche, which means multiple website exposure not just the search engines.

To show how this works we are going to go through a series of posts. The first couple will be about one of my established sites - Option Spreads Showing the rankings in the search engines now for the specific keywords I am targeting. Now obviously this is a major risk showing this information because it may increase my competition - however I have chosen a field in which competition is pretty fierce anyway. After this, the next few will show a brand new site, in fact only the domain name has been purchased, it’s not hosted yet, and how quickly the site will appear in the rankings of the search engines and how quickly it is to dominate a specific niche.

Then lastly I will need to promote this site - www.dsbeatty.com, which will be in one of the most demanding and competitive markets the Internet Marketing niche. So we shall see, but obviously if you are reading this some of my IM skills are working otherwise you would not have found this site to read it. So I guess I am somewhat successful just from the fact that someone is reading this.
